We've sold our house-finally!- in the UK so we're now only a bit in debt!! However, it's more manageable a debt now and we can start to look at getting things here--not too expensive though!!-- that means we can give back the things we've borrowed from the really kind neighbours(now friends!) and feel a bit more self-sufficient!!
That's a nice feeling too.....seems to be the week for it!
The other nice feeling/'breakthrough' is that, hubby seems to be a tad more tolerant of my scrapping habit!!
Yes, how liberating is that!! Perhaps it's something to do with the new set of golf clubs he's bought for himself!!?..........
Hey, I don't care; if they've helped me make inroads into him actually waiting outside whilst I go into a dedicated scrapbooking store for a few sheets of patterned paper, then I love those golf clubs too!! I am a fool for being so bothered by his disinterest and almost sneering criticism but, I think, my patience has finally rewarded me!
Yep, my enthusiasm and encouragement regarding the clubs has helped him realize that we don't have to understand everything about each other; each of us has something different that makes us 'tick' and feel good. Mine's scrapbooking, his is golf. It doesn't mean we're 'drifting apart' or that we have different interests, it just means we have a separate interest that the other doesn't share/understand/care about!! That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not a personal attack or criticism that I like-well, love!- scrapbooking and he likes-well, loves!-golf, it just means that we have one thing we don't share. End of story/subject/argument.
And I quite like that 'cos it means I can be a little bit possessive about it and my things, just as he can with his shiny, spangly new clubs!!
So, here I am, just about to get out the bag of goodies I've been squirrelling away (until my stash is shipped!) and not feeling the least bit inclined to have to listen out for when he comes home to put it away.
After all, does he feel daft when he's swinging a golf club round in the garage or 'putting' a golf ball into a golf ball box?!...........Absolutely not!
So, why on earth should I feel silly about recording in a different way all the things about our move to Australia and keeping memories alive for the kids as they grow up in our adopted country?
This is our story.
Unique. Different. Boring. Exciting. Ours.
