Prompt #2

I've not been to a fireworks display or had any at home as they're generally banned over here because of the fire risk! Last year we were in the UK, went to one at the BIL's work and the kids just moaned about the loud bangs!!
Anyhoo, back to the prompt #2: how and when did I get into scrapbooking and what got me hooked etc........
I started in 2002 when I saw, by chance (trying to keep the kids entertained!!) a QVC programme and then Alan & Barry on the 'Create and Craft' programme. They had guest scrappers on-Alicia Tucker and then Jane Dean.
They were the ones who got me into it as their enthusiasm was obvious and they both conveyed that you didn't need to be a designer or a 'professional' artist to be involved in scrapping. I was never 'creative' in the more conventional view i.e. 'arty', 'alternative' or able to rattle off a drawing without a great deal of concentration or mistakes!
So, right from Jane's tip about cutting out the back of the paper from behind a photo-makes your stash go further!- I've been hooked for 4 years!
I love the fact that I can do this with as little or as much stash as I can afford (usually the former!!), that there are few rules, that I can record the mundane, everyday as well as the big events in mine and my family's life. The kids love looking through the pages and are not swayed by the fact that I don't have all the latest chipboard letter designs and digital brushes. They just love looking at themselves and that is the point of this obession, I suppose.
I wish I had more time to scrap; I wish I'd started it many, many years ago. I wish I had tons of stash and printer ink to do the things I'd like. I wish my husband 'got' scrapbooking! I wish I could take better photos with a better camera.
For now, I'm happy grabbing what time I can to do it and try to make the best of what I have.......in life as well as scrapping. As Ali Edwards says, "It's all good".
I'm a 'scrimple scrapper'-simple and scrimp on supplies and LOs! I love paisley, flowers, kraft BBP,buttons, Chatterbox, Basic Grey, KIMemories, clear stamps, flourishes, whirligigs and fonts, fonts, fonts.
I love love love scrapbooking!!!
